About the device
The activL Artificial Disc from Aesculap is a lumbar total disc replacement. Its polyethylene core can glide slightly as well as rotate, which is designed to follow the way a healthy lumbar disc moves during bending and twisting.
The implant comes in multiple sizes and angles and is secured with small spikes or a keel on the endplates, depending on the version, to fit a wide range of patient anatomy.
Who it's designed for
Adults with low back pain from degenerative disc disease at a single level between L4 and S1, after at least six months of non-surgical care.
